Structural Engineering Internship CEMS Engineering, Inc. is searching for Structural Engineering interns with strong technical abilities, and an expressed interest in building structural systems and materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, foundations, wind/earthquake design, etc.
The successful candidate’s responsibilities may include:
Assisting senior engineers with routine design
Preparing structural drawings and calculations
Reviewing calculations and drawings
Handling other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in B.S. Civil Engineering or related field (junior year, or higher) from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent plus appropriate continuing education
1-2 years of civil engineering classes and/or other internship related experience specifically related to vertical civil and structural analysis and design (i.e. Structural Emphasis Areas)
Strong communication skills and team-oriented attitude.
Ability to coordinate with other engineering teams/disciplines within the firm
Ability to work independently in a team environment and effectively manage time
Ability to work and effectively coordinate with staff in multiple office locations
Effective time-management, written communication skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative are important for this internship
Desired Qualifications:
Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) Registration
Experience or working knowledge in drafting software AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Experience or working knowledge with structural design software (i.e. RISA, etc.)
