The Protective Services Training Academy (PSTA) is located in Prince Georges County, Maryland adjacent to Andrews Air Force Base, and approximately 11 miles from the Capitol. The mission of the state-of-the-art training facility is to provide:
PSTA, known around the region as simply “The Academy,” offers state of the art features not found at other facilities in the area, including the full array of protective service training capabilities. The PSTA is the premier training venue in the Mid-Atlantic region for the protective services community. The PSTA was built with protective service and law enforcement professional in mind.
The PSTA training and instructional staff is uniquely qualified when compared to our competitors in the area, offering a wide array of training certification opportunities for students. Our staff includes instructors that are certified by the National Rifle Association Law Enforcement Activities Division, Maryland State Police, District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, and Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to provide Armed and Unarmed Certification Training to security professionals. The instructional staff is also certified by the American Red Cross to teach and certify CPR (Adult, Child and Infant) and First Aid, as well as providing instruction in — less-lethal weapons, inflammatory agents and chemical munitions.
We also offer instructors that are certified by FLETC, Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission (MPTC), FBI, NASA, USSS, IALEFI, Department of State, as well as numerous Armorer Schools.
The PSTA also provides a complete set of services to private protective services companies including facility rental, certification services, training, and staffing. Government and law enforcement agencies also regularly train their staffs at the PSTA.
