The Engineer 6 - is responsible for managing the design of multiple projects within their designated market segment and ensuring all designs meet established MC Dean design standards.
Responsible for:
- Coordinating with project managers in order to forecast and monitor manpower requirements.
- Assigning engineering project resources.
- Ensuring engineering team is developing in areas of specialty.
- Approving drawing sets for release to the customer.
- Tracking assigned engineering budgets.
- Providing guidance for the Systems and Product evaluation labs.
- Serving as a point of escalation for potential customer engineering issues.
- Developing, managing and documenting engineering design processes and policies.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring engineering team is up to date on all certifications and required training.
- Identifying and pursuing business opportunities.
- Providing leadership and mentorship to Design Engineering team.
- Conducting job interviews for prospective employees.
- Conducting performance evaluation reviews for employees.
- Offering counsel and advice to employees on a wide range of subjects.

Education requirements are as follow:
- 12-15 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline (BS)
- 9-11 years of experience with a MS/MA
- 7-9 years of experience with a Ph.D.
Certification requirements are as follows:
- Master Level Vendor Specific Certification ( Intrusion Detection, CCTV and Access Control Systems)
- VADCJS (VA Dept of Criminal Justice Services)*
- New Hires who do not have a VADCJS Certification will have a maximum of 90 days to successfully obtain it. Employees who have their VADCJS must maintain their current status.
Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; DoD Top Secret clearance is required.
