The Engineer 6 - is responsible for managing the design of multiple projects within their designated market segment and ensuring all designs meet established MC Dean design standards.

Responsible for:

  1. Coordinating with project managers in order to forecast and monitor manpower requirements.
  2. Assigning engineering project resources.
  3. Ensuring engineering team is developing in areas of specialty.
  4. Approving drawing sets for release to the customer.
  5. Tracking assigned engineering budgets.
  6. Providing guidance for the Systems and Product evaluation labs.
  7. Serving as a point of escalation for potential customer engineering issues.
  8. Developing, managing and documenting engineering design processes and policies.
  9. Driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  10. Ensuring engineering team is up to date on all certifications and required training.
  11. Identifying and pursuing business opportunities.
  12. Providing leadership and mentorship to Design Engineering team.
  13. Conducting job interviews for prospective employees.
  14. Conducting performance evaluation reviews for employees.
  15. Offering counsel and advice to employees on a wide range of subjects.


Education requirements are as follow: 

  1. 12-15  years  of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline (BS)
  2. 9-11 years of experience with a MS/MA
  3. 7-9 years of experience with a Ph.D.
Certification requirements are as follows:
  1. Master Level Vendor Specific Certification ( Intrusion Detection, CCTV and Access Control Systems)
  2. VADCJS (VA Dept of Criminal Justice Services)*
  3. New Hires who do not have a VADCJS Certification will have a maximum of 90 days to successfully obtain it.  Employees who have their VADCJS must maintain their current status.
 
Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; DoD Top Secret clearance is required.
