Description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:

Assist in the overall administrative and technical direction of one or more projects. Will have responsibility for specific portions of a construction project on a day-to-day basis by assisting the Superintendent in execution of projects with overview and guidance by their Supervisor. In addition, assist the project team in the pursuit of new projects, project design, and estimate/scope preparation.

POSITION DUTIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in strategy sessions for projects
  • Create conceptual designs utilizing AutoCAD
  • Create estimates, quantity takeoff, bid solicitation, bid comparisons, etc.
  • Create and maintain project schedules utilizing Microsoft Project
  • Create and maintain billings, cost projections, contracts, and purchase orders in Viewpoint
  • Create scope change estimates
  • Assist in creating bid forms, scopes of work, specifications, and subcontracts
  • Assist in shop drawing review
  • Submittal review and tracking in Procore
  • RFI generation and tracking in Procore
  • Maintain project files and drawings
  • Assist in managing design and project issues to resolution
  • Create meeting notes and agendas
  • Assist Project Team with project execution
  • Assist in facilitating subcontractor project meetings
  • Maintain communication with multiple parties on a day to day basis regarding project issues (Owner/Client, Designers, City Officials, Development, Marketing, Finance, Project Team, Supervisors, and Other Associates)
  • Create Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals/As-Built drawings
  • Leverage the project team's time
  • Continuous investigation for cost enhancement and process improvements
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Expand verbal and written communication skills and understand proper use of each
  • Assist in enforcing safety on all projects

ATTENDANCE & TRAVEL:

Regular attendance is required during normal working hours, at a minimum, which may also include weekend hours and may also vary depending on geographic location. Work beyond 40 hours per week may be required. Periodic out of town travel may be required, depending on project assignment, and may include overnight stays.

SUPERVISION: If applicable

Directly supervises Project Assistants and Project Technicians and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include listening, assigning, training Associates when appropriate, planning and directing work, appraising performance, and addressing/resolving complaints/problems.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Generally requires 1 year of experience and a 4 year Engineering, Construction, or Architectural related degree from an accredited College or University. Other related degrees if supported by construction oriented course work or experience. Experience with Design-Build delivery, Progressive/LEAN Design-Build delivery, Integrated Project Delivery methods is a plus. Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, as well as estimating and project management utilizing cost accounting software (Viewpoint is preferred) and Procore. Other related degrees if supported by construction oriented course work or experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
