Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting existing manufacturing processes, as well as planning, recommending, and developing new manufacturing, gauging, and support functions to produce Venture Aerobearings LLC products.
Venture Aerobearings LLC, (VA) a joint venture between SKF and GE Aviation, was created in August 2007. VA was founded by our parent companies to be an innovative aerospace manufacturer of high precision, jet engine bearings. Our mandate is to safely and rapidly produce higher quality, lower cost bearings for our customers, using self-directed work teams, cutting edge technology, and lean six sigma processes. VA provides personal, professional, and business growth through its continuous research and training processes. Our teams consist of diverse individuals from various backgrounds whose focus is to continually bring ground breaking and innovative ideas for the growth of VA.

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership for assigned equipment, processes, and products, attaining quality and excellence, with cost superiority.
  • Maintain all process documentation (Setup sheets, drawings, routings, work instructions) for assigned equipment, processes, and products.
  • Provide engineering support and guidance to Bearing Technicians for incorporating process changes, special rework processes, design changes and/or implementing new designs.
  • Establish processes that generate parts meeting customer and quality requirements at minimum cost.
  • Evaluate test and performance data regularly to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Design and integrate improved capabilities into existing and new equipment.
  • Apply analytical and computational techniques to problem solving.
  • Lead and/or provide engineering support to assigned projects intended to develop programs, optimize productivity, or reduce cycle time, manufacturing losses and/or overall shop costs.
  • Collaborate with Production to aid in the establishment of specifications for new manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Collaborate and advise in the installation of new manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Use Lean Six Sigma practices in daily activities and problem-solving situations.
  • Participate in the review of Government regulations and standards in the areas of health and safety regarding manufacturing equipment and the production process.
  • Ensure adherence to the Quality Control Systems plan.
  • Provide engineering support to assist VA personnel to interface with Design, Engine Assembly, and Vendors as appropriate to ensure smooth flow of quality hardware at lower cost.
  • Provide focus for customer support and response to customer identified problems.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelors degree in a related engineering field.
  • Or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years engineering experience or 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 3 years related manufacturing experience with CAD/CAM, CNC, and standard machine tools.
  • Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, analytical, and personal computing skills.
  • Must be able to work independently in a high performance/self-directed facility.
  • Position may require providing off-shift support.
  • Travel as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Mori-Seiki/Fanuc controllers.
  • Siemens NX CAD/CAM design.
  • Hard turning/Milling/Fixture design.
  • CNC Multi-Axis Grinding/Honing/Work Holding design.
