Job Description

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible Technical Writing positions supporting software development, systems design groups or other technically related groups
  • Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrable expertise in Microsoft Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Experience using SharePoint
  • Experience using CMPro is beneficial
  • Experience creating documentation under a government contract

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and Visio
  • Experience using Microsoft O365 Suite
  • Experience using Adobe Pro
  • Experience using Intellink
  • Experience creating documentation under a government contract
  • Knowledge of systems engineering activities and process improvement approaches - strongly desired
  • Be comfortable with the creation of in-depth, accurate technical documentation
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or Project Online

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

SRC is continuing and expanding their support of the Navy's Network Security Integrated Product Team (NS IPT) Computer Network Defense (CND) program. The SRC team provides cutting-edge engineering, analysis, integration and life cycle sustainment support for the NS IPT/CND systems. The purpose of the Navy NS IPT/CND program is to augment CND capabilities and integrate them into the unique environments encountered by Navy forces. Navy CND is an integral part of the cyber defense posture, protecting the Navy's component of the Global Information Grid (GIG) from exploitation and infrastructure protection. Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic requires resources to support the Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) and Integration activities for the Information Technology for the 21st Century (IT-21), and OCONUS Navy Enterprise Network (ONENET) networks, to enhance network and cyber security.

As a member of the Technical Writing Team supporting the NS IPT/CND Team, the candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for a group of system engineers, designing, building and supporting a development and production system under a government contract. The candidate must be capable of working independently to create system level documentation, procedures, and plans using Microsoft Office Suite of tools, including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

These efforts will be conducted in our Charleston, SC location in a secured lab space on-site 5 days a week. SRC is looking for motivated, adaptable individuals with a background in Technical Writing, SharePoint administration and workflow process analysis to join the team.

  • Interviews systems administrators and systems design engineers to gather the necessary information for creating system level documentation
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure technical content is accurate, easy to understand, and formatted in a consistent and uniform tone
  • Creates management plans for Configuration, Security, Program, and Operations using Word, Visio, and Excel
  • Creates slide presentations to support briefings using PowerPoint
  • Maintains schedule and schedule tracking activities for project and operational deliverables
  • Maintains risk register and risk reporting activities
  • Manages peer reviews of documentation and arbitrate review comments
  • Writes and edits technical documentation for project hardware and software, to include installation, configuration, and how-to documentation
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides and manuals, and technical publications; to include network security documents
  • Updates and maintains a current internal documentation library
  • Maintains, organizes, analyzes, and prepares reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences; including training materials and contractual deliverables and reports
  • Edits and reviews technical documents for format, style, and language correctness. Ensures all documents are in the current style format
  • Confirms documents are approved before being uploaded to SAILOR
  • Updates internal Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) tracker for confirmation as to when ECRs are ready for the Change Control Board (CCB)
