Purpose/objective of the position

Responsible for enforcement of company policies, prepare sales commissions, look for cost reduction opportunities, and finance support to the month-end activities. Oversees company audits, compliance, and financial policies and procedures. Support the financial planning and analysis efforts. Actively collaborate with other region functional leaders to understand key business challenges and provide insight and guidance on specific business issues or opportunities. Actively partner with these functions to drive desired business outcomes, including sales growth and margin expansion, optimizing inventory investment (S&OP process) and investing in the right human capital. Develop and review capital appropriation requests to ensure business case assumptions are appropriate and financial returns are acceptable. Should possess a strong background in accounting, finance, and management. Preferably MBA in finance or CPA. The candidate will have a solid-line reporting relationship with the General Manager, and a heavily dotted-line relationship with the VP Finance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Owning the forecasts and annual plan process for income statement and balance sheet items. Achieve financial objectives by providing monthly forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Compilation, review, and consolidation of accounting data to support the month-end close.
  • Communicate and resolve inter-departmental requirements need for month-end close.
  • Resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Direct collection efforts, engaging the sales organization as needed. Manage credit risk taken for specific customers or jobs.
  • Leveraging BI (Business Intelligence) to identify opportunities to enhance revenue growth and expand margins, including targeting underperforming customers, branches, and opportunities for branch additions.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Oversees and regulates inventory levels.
  • Oversees preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and yearly commissions, Incentives, and bonuses.

Company Policies Enforcement

  • Assure security and proper use of the funds.
  • Supervise the quality and compliance with the company policies of sales, accounting management, financial reporting, and budgeting activities.
  • Maintains financial security by establishing and enforcement of internal controls.
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Excellent knowledge of all Puerto Rico statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Ensure legal compliance with all financial functions.
  • Oversee all company audits.
  • Maintains all accounting records in proper history files for audit inquiries.
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Education and Experience

  • Ten years minimum of finance experience.
  • Five years minimum supervising experience.
  • BS in Finance, Accounting, w/ CPA, or MBA in finance preferable

Skills

  • Well-rounded computer skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access)
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in team environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous eye to producing a high-quality work product.
