Community Outreach to Women

The greater Summerville / Charleston, SC chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), is a group of professional women who support one another’s business and personal objectives.

The C4W has reached more than 70,000 women since it was established in 1990, connecting thousands of women across the Tri-County area to professional sources for practical help by providing counseling, facilitating peer support groups, and making referrals . We provide educational programs on important issues such as emotional, physical and financial health, life transitions, discrimination of all types, multiculturalism, and career and business.

The National Organization for Women (NOW) is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. Since its founding in 1966, NOW's goal has been to take action to bring about equality for all women. NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society; secure abortion, birth control and reproductive rights for all women; end all forms of violence against women; eradicate racism, sexism and homophobia; and promote equality and justice in our society.

Upstate Women in Technology is a Greenville, SC, based organization promoting networking, learning and friendship among women within the Information Technology community. Our members consist of women in all areas of IT, including but not limited to, programming, system administration, support, project management, recruitment, small business ownership, telecommunications, sales, and higher education. Our monthly meeting topics range from technical IT topics to general business topics to women specific topics.

The Women Marines Association is the only veterans association for and about women Marines. WMA is a non-profit 501(c)3 veteran organization. The Women Marines Association was established in Denver, CO, in 1960 to ensure that our history as Marines would continue to be told and passed on to a new generation of Marines. Chapters and members across the nation work on community programs and support our military personnel, our veterans and their communities. They reach across all areas where there is a need.

The YWCA Greater Charleston has been serving women and children in the Greater Charleston area since 1907. The YWCA’s priorities include employment training for women from all socio-economic and racial backgrounds; helping women find affordable and accessible child care; providing children with opportunities to enable them to succeed in school and in life; nurturing the health and wellness of local girls and women; and educating children and adults about the devastating impact of racism, hate crimes, and discrimination in the lives of all people.

Zonta International is a worldwide organization of executives and professionals working together to improve the status of women through service and advocacy. Formed in 1919, Zonta International is active in 68 countries of the world. There are approximately 33,000 members in more than 1,200 clubs. Membership is classified according to occupation.
