To accomplish great things, we must believe. Believe in the power of YOU! No one has power over you, except for you, so what do you believe about yourself? Do you believe you are amazing, and wonderful and awesome? THEN YOU ARE...amazing, wonderful, and awesome.Life is all about the choices you make. Good, bad, or otherwise, every day you make a choice. And then another one. And then another one. Even not making a decision...

Too often, people say one thing and do another. I admit that I have often slid into this rut and thought about how I need to do something (lose weight for example) and then don't follow through and do anything about it (yes, this happens to me too). So even though I say that it's important to me to lose weight, I don't display the requisite motivation to follow through and do it, so my words are hollow. What does this mean?...

Do you have cable TV, and spend time surfing mindlessly from channel to channel, stopping here and there and everywhere for just the right show, with no real purpose or particular TV show in mind? OK, it's your NEIGHBOR who's got the problem. Think about him or her for just a minute. Why are they surfing when they know what they really want? Do they know what they really want or are they just killing time. Now think about yo...

Today over at Career Hub, I read a very interesting article titled Beware Energy Vampires! Their article ended with the money shot of: "...beware of folks who drain you. Those high-maintenance people are more than a pain in the neck...they may just prove to be a pain for your career." This was based on an article in Medical News Today. I think it's great advice to beware of these "energy vampires" but when I finished the...

Have you ever posted your name to an online bulletin board, proclaiming that so-and-so was a you-know-what, only to change your mind after learning more facts? Did you wish it would just "go away," only to turn up again when you least wanted it to? I'm here to tell you that if you post something online, it's there FOREVER! Quick example: Do a Google search on my name, Phil Gerbyshak. OK, just click this link. Over 90,00...

Recently Ellen Weber at Brain Based Business had a great post about Another Breakthrough to Help Us Remember, and closed with a question I had to take a shot at answering. Can you think of other links that help you to remember in a more brain friendly manner? I am really good at remembering names, but it isn't a natural thing. I actually have a neat trick for remembering names, and if you're bad with names, this mig...

So many people have boring business cards. Think about it...Do you want to see a red card, or a white card? I would choose a red card. I'm actually working on re-doing my business cards right now, so my current ones are, admittedly, a boring white, but not for long! Choosing the right color is only one of many tips that make me want to keep a card in my wallet and not just enter your information into Outlook and throw t...

When I was about 10 years old, I got a t-shirt from my uncle and aunt that said, "It's hard to soar with the eagles when you're hanging out with a bunch of turkeys." I really didn't know what it meant at the time, so I didn't think anything of it. When I got into the Navy, I quickly realized that people made judgments about me based on the people I spent time with. I started my career at my first duty station in Pensacola,...

Who needs a network of people to talk to about the struggles you’re encountering in your profession? You do! The more people you have in your personal network, the more people that can help you Make it Great! Don’t be afraid to ask for help, because you can’t do everything alone, contrary to popular belief. By developing your network, you can actually become more dependent on others, and they will become dependent on you.Of...

So you’re stuck in a rut, bored with how your life is, and you can’t think of how you're EVER going to get through this tough time in your life. Einstein defined insanity as “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” So stop being insane…and try something new.Now I’m not saying you totally change everything you do, and everything you’re about. I’m recommending you take small, baby steps, and...
